This edition of LITM Pop Picks brings to you atmospheric jazz-pop tracks, enthralling electronic-pop tracks, and much more. The list features artists LEEDY, Sunstroke Rain, sole-trader, and more.

LEEDY - Green

A true modern pop experience, ‘Green’ by LEEDY is the groove that you look for to accompany your special evening. The instrumentation is brimming with smooth synths and a steady percussion that shifts and adapts according to the progression of the song. The many different layers in the song come together in a manner that doesn’t come off as jagged and rushed, but in a way that reflects the careful production choices that were made. Velvety tones of sultriness and romance drive the song. The vocals mirror the tones of the instrumentation perfectly, and further ground the sultry vibes of the track. The song’s rhythms are slow, maintaining the perfect level of groove that will have you moving and will have you relaxed at the same time.

Sunstroke Rain - Another World

Drawing you into its electronic-pop soundscape, ‘Another World’ by Sunstroke Rain will have you helplessly hooked to its hypnotic rhythms. The instrumentation plays with pace and textural densities, as it brings together synth layers and also pulls them apart. This brings in great dynamicity to the tune, as it does not allow stagnancy to set in. There is a sharpness to the tune and yet a grounded-ness that allows you to emotionally connect with the track. The two different vocal segments that characterise the track add great character to the song. So put this on, and just groove away to its irresistible rhythms.

sole-trader - Fine

Fresh, and utterly intoxicating, ‘Fine’ by sole-trader will be your new song of the summer. Tropical vibes colouring the track through and through, the song brings together a stunning mix of indie-pop and R&B sound elements. The song constantly shifts around, playing with its layers and bringing in new sound textures. Offering you a slow, relaxed groove, the song is perfect for long drives by the coast, as you “bask in the sunshine.” The song might remind you of some of Nick Jonas’ discography. We promise you that you won’t be able to get the song off your mind from the very first listen.

Seán Julian - Pùca

An almost sombre, reflective guitar playing starting off the track, ‘Pùca’ by Seán Julian is the kind of song that asks you to leave aside everything that is burdening your mind and pay full attention to its rhythms. The song is not loud and performative in its approach, and is instead quite soft, slow and grounded, allowing for reflection and introspection to set in. Taking from that, the instrumentation is leaning towards an indie-pop sound. The way the guitar has been used masterfully in the song, and brings in a huge chunk of the emotionality that drives the song. This song could fit right in within a soundtrack of an indie coming-to-age film.

Lawrence Timoni - In Every Quiet Moment

A solid electric bass tune welcoming you to the track, ‘In Every Quiet Moment’ by Lawrence Timoni is quite the straying from what the usual modern pop sound expects. The instrumentation is slow and deliberate, blending together a jazz sound with the pop sound. The lyrics in the song showcase brilliant songwriting skills, with its use of beautifully crafted metaphors and imagery. The shift that occurs at 2:20 minutes is simply exquisite and elevates the song while maintaining a consistency in the essence of the sound. And the utterly atmospheric brilliance that the solo section in the end brings in will have you mindblown. This is not the song to miss at any cost and we urge you to listen to it right this second.
