LITM Pop Picks Featuring Kavé, MOLTENO, Seattle Junior and More!

This edition of LITM Pop Picks brings you unexpected genre blends and mesmeric melodies, from the artists- Ersin Secrin, Kavé, MOLTENO, Conchis, and Seattle Junior.

1. Ersin Secrin - Replay

Ersin Secrin’s Replay floods the senses with high-glam atmospheric sheen and peppy instrumentation using generative AI and production tools. The Turkish track is infectious with its groove and catchy melody lines that flow even more smoothly in the language. This is a great track to put on at a party or find at a club to dance your heart out to. The arrangement uses a fun mesh of synths consisting of different textures and bright house-leaning rhythms, and the mix contains it into one airtight playground. Check out the track here-

2. Kavé - Through Waves

This instrumental track is the perfect music that could slow down time momentarily and have you take a giant breather in the midst of a hectic or anxiety-heavy workday. Through Waves is halfway between a film score and a hypnosis tape, where instrumental grooves of synths and warbly basslines slowly lead you into the song’s very core, as a narrator adds suggestions. The track does get more into a musical rhythm midway, with an equally hypnotic drum beat and wispy vocals. This would be a great track if you’re looking for a crossover in the cinematic, psychedelic, and synth pop space, if you’re feeling experimental.

3. Conchis - Under Your Feathers

Another one from the experimental indie pop roster is Conchis’s latest, ‘Under Your Feathers’,  a track that successfully blends strange and eerie textures, taking the listener through thoroughly unchartered territory. From grungy overtones and tinny instrumental spasms to slow-moving synths and surreal and fuzzy vocals, you are introduced to unique and gripping pairings not often found in the genre, the bassline underneath keeps you locked in with its weight. The song is the result of blending two distinct emotions, looming anxiety and sinking acceptance.  The overall track is reminiscent of taking a subway/metro ride, with zipping movements and long exposure photography.

4. MOLTENO – Daydream

Underneath MOLTENO’s ‘Daydream’ is a moody atmospheric haze made of sultry synths, a heartbeat-like rhythm, and, as the title suggests, a dream-like soundscape. With subtle background instrumentation from the synths and a sparkly mix, the song captures an enigmatic and lilting sonic mix using soothing foreground vocal-led melody lines with subtle background murmuration and fuzzy ambient layering, and a set of vocal layers that drift the listener through different textures and temperatures. The vocal timbres could drift you across the room within the first few seconds while the rest of the instrumentation takes over! Listen here-

5. Seattle Junior - Long Angry Summer

Seattle Junior’s latest track ‘Long Angry Summer’ is a vivid mix of bright and evening tones, with a lean into an alternative genre. The instrumental mix is dynamic, going from airy and psychedelic, quickly transitioning into a vintage alt rock landscape in a way that makes perfect sense. The vocal layers are bright and soothing, yet fragmented, and a bit far away, tying the whole thing together, as the instrumentation goes from soul-soothing to re-energizing. The rhythms are a combination of acoustic-scattered and rock-inspired, and the result is a satisfyingly captivating mix of soft-to-gruff textures and uniquely shuffle-y patterns. Listen here-
