The song is fast paced, and has a restlessness to it in terms of the instrumentation. On the other hand, Carl’s singing is relatively slower, more flowy, and holds emotions differently. This contradictory pacing helps the themes of the song greatly, and helps us realise how grief can feel so confusing when some days go by in a blink whereas some move in complete slow-motion.
