LITM Interviews Doble Pista about Their Magnetic New Single Memoria En La Piel!

Bringing raw vulnerability and lush, textured electronic pop together, ‘Memoria En La Piel’ by Doble Pista dives into the deep influence that certain connections, their promises leave in our hearts. LITM talks to Doble Pista about the single and their music!

Congrats on the new single! Tell us a little bit about yourself and your musical journey.

I'm Carlos Cuerdo Cobos, producer, composer, songwriter and arranger from Pineda de Mar, a seaside town near Barcelona. Doble Pista® is my personal project: I write, compose, arrange and produce every track, while vocalists join as guest artists. Each release is crafted from the initial idea to the final mix, integrating granular synthesis, ambient textures and low-frequency rhythms. My approach is based on creating immersive experiences where music is not only heard: it is seen, felt and interpreted within its own universe.

Talk to us about the story that you are painting through the song.

"Memoria en la Piel" explores what happens when two people meet again after a long time apart. It's not only the head that remembers: it's the whole body. A gesture, a look, the tone of a voice — everything comes back at once. The song captures that exact moment when the past becomes the present again, with nothing you can do to stop it. It's a universal story but a very intimate one: we've all lived something like it, even if it wasn't with a partner.

The song is electro-pop at its most magnetic and intoxicating. What is the vibe that you were trying to go for with this song?

I wanted to create that bubble sensation: the contrast between the public and the private, between noise and intimacy. A crowded dance floor is the perfect setting for a private connection, because nobody else notices what's happening. It's as if the world stopped for the two of them, even though there are hundreds of people around. Dancing is a form of non-verbal communication that fits perfectly with the idea of bodily memory: the body remembers before the mind.

What was it like working with the vocalists Sebastián & Agus on the song?

I discovered them through Instagram, and they connected with "Memoria en la Piel" from the very first moment. Sebas has a warm, close timbre, and Agus brings an intensity that gives the song another dimension. I gave them full interpretive freedom, because that's exactly what I'm looking for: for them to bring their personality to the song. I write the lyrics, compose the music, do the arrangements and produce, but when it comes to the voice, I need the singer to make the song their own. When I received the first audio of them singing, I put on my headphones, closed my eyes, and understood that the song was no longer just mine: it had taken on a life of its own.

What was the songwriting process like for you?

The song developed quite naturally. I had the general idea (a reunion after a long time) and some key images (the dance, bodily memory, the tension between past and present), but I didn't have a detailed script. As I wrote, the story took on a life of its own. The characters began to have their own voice, and the song found its shape. That's what I love most about writing: when the song leads you to it, and not the other way around.

Who were the musical influences that have shaped and continue to shape your artistry?

My sound draws from 80s synth-pop, atmospheric electronica and cinematic pop. Artists like Depeche Mode, New Order and Pet Shop Boys taught me that electronic music can be emotional and narrative at the same time. But I also drink from contemporary production: Flume, ODESZA, Rüfüs Du Sol. What interests me most is the tension between the organic and the digital, between technology and human emotion. Doble Pista is my laboratory to explore that duality without filters.

What are you most excited for in the future and is there an album in the works?

More than in the works: it's in its final stage. The album is already written and produced, and right now I'm putting the finishing touches on it. It will be released next year. It will keep exploring the themes that obsess me: memory, identity and human connection. I've always maintained that music doesn't belong to the one who creates it, but to the one who needs it. If my songs can help someone understand their own marks, then they will have fulfilled their purpose. What excites me most is seeing how each listener makes the story their own: in the end, we all build our identity out of what we've lived, out of the people we've loved and out of the marks we carry in our bodies.
