Kamil) Hey Destiny Imani, super nice to have the chance to chat with you. What drew you to the music industry?

I come from a musically inclined background, so there was really no escaping the music industry. I was introduced to music at a young age in the church, and I found the soulful gospel songs to be comforting yet so full of emotion. From then on I have loved music and I love creating it.

What is the funniest or weirdest question that you have ever been asked in an interview?

Honestly, I cannot recall any outlandishly funny or weird questions, but I am sure they will present themselves one day down the line.

Your latest song is 'Only One'. Can you tell us more about the making of it and if there were any unusual things happening during the process?

Yes, ‘Only One’ is a song about undeniable love and desire. It is about a journey that has no specific destination but instead tells the tale of two lovers who want nothing more than to love each other wholly. It honestly wrote itself and I am so glad that it did because every single lyric is true and intentional.

What are your songs about?

All of my songs have ties to love. I love love and I love writing about it, so I often think what better way to convey my thoughts, experiences, and feelings than through love songs.

What is the most trouble that you ever have gotten into?

Related to music, I would say the release of my first single “Again” definitely raised some eyebrows. Being that I grew up in the church and was expected to release gospel music, the release of a more secular song as my own personal release did not go over well with some people. However, I have grown to recognize that that is okay, and I will continue to walk in my own right as an artist and songwriter and create music that is honest and true to who I am.

If you could date any other musician, who would it be and why?

This is always a funny question to me, and it seems easy to answer now that “Only One” is finally out, but I would date the featured artist on the new song mainly because we already have a very strong relationship together which I’m sure is evident based on the song.

If you can have your fans remember one thing about you, what would it be?

I would have my fans remember me as authentic and real. I always want to show my true colors as an artist and give everything I have into my music. I think it is important to be authentic, real, and original in a world full of duplicates no matter how hard it is to stand out. Because at the end of the day, we all have to look in the mirror, and I don’t want to look at myself and see someone else nor portray myself as someone or something that I am not.

When were you generally fulfilled in your position as an artist?

Honestly I think it comes in spurts and never lasts too long. I am always trying to improve upon my music as an artist, so fulfillment is fleeting. I have learned to enjoy my journey in music more than anything, and so far the journey has been the most fulfilling thing.

What advice would you have for someone wanting to follow in your footsteps?

Stay true to you and your dream. No matter what people may say or how hard it gets, keep going and don’t let anyone or anything deter you from what you truly want.

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to create music that will change the world! I am looking forward to continuing to expand my catalog with the release of my first mixtape this year. I also hope to work with more artists as a songwriter because songwriting is a true passion of mine.
