What strengths do you have that you believe make you a great musician?

My strengths I believe are in my enjoyment of music, I think I look like I'm enjoying myself and that's an important part of stage presence. I also have worked hard to train my voice and I think its unique and strong. People often say to me 'You are such a tiny person with a big voice!'

What is the biggest challenge of being an artist?

The biggest challenge of being an artist is the constant pressure. You always have to be keeping up or else you get left behind. I have also had experiences where other musicians just see me as competition and not a person, they've been unkind, had digs at me even though they don't really know me and this is difficult too. I am an advocate for encouraging others so when people tear me down for no apparent reason other than getting more opportunities than them it upsets me. It is a con to doing well and trying to better yourself and your career.

Your latest track is 'Fall'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

I actually just randomly had the melody 'how did I, how did I fall?' one day and then it tooks me months to write everything else!! Months and months! It was funny because it was the hardest song to write because I had an image of how I wanted it to be and the lyrics never fit until the last studio day. I wrote it about my now husband and when I was falling in love with him in 2013.

Where do you see your musical career in 10 years?

I hope to be playing at big festivals, I hope to have a band and I hope to still be plugging away with music! I have no clue but I'm sure I'll be singing somewhere!

What is the most surprising fact you’ve learnt about yourself?

I think I've learnt alot about myself this past year, especially that I can do more than what I think I can do. I always doubt myself and it always gets in the way. Recently I've learnt just to do what I want and believe in myself a little more and its done wonders!

Do you think that education is important?

Education is so important! Without it I certainly wouldn't be performing, playing an instrument or singing. I have always been taught everything I know, I often get the chance to teach and educate others too. I have a vlog called CVLOG where I educate new musicians and give them advice and I love doing it.

What would you be doing right now, if it wasn’t for your music career?

I think I'd own a bakery, in my free time I love baking cakes and I'd have a shop called 'Carley's Cakes' I think!

How do you structure your week?

I structure it with Monday and tuesday being my weekend. Wed-Sundays I often have gigs but Wednesday is my content day and Thursday tends to be songwriting day :) This all depends on my mood though, sometimes I like to do nothing for a week to recharge.

What do you think is the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen or experienced?

I think one of the most beautiful things I've experienced was I was gigging in a bar once. I remembered feeling so down on this day with my own music and I was actually thinking 'What am I doing? Should I just quit' then a little girl and her family are sat near me and she runs up to me and says she listens to my songs every night before she goes to sleep. She knew all of my songs word for word. It made me so happy and I honestly could have cried!! Its a small thing, but if one little girl loves my music, that's enough. I enjoy what I do and thats what matters, that was a huge turning point for me. Another awesome beautiful thing I've ever seen would probably be exploring new countries, I had the honour of playing at a wedding in Greece on a summers day and that was so special :)

What are your plans for the future?

My plan is to release my single Shore the last song from the Seasons EP and then get writing the next EP! I'm also performing across England this summer and I cannot wait!
