Hi Rose Spearman. Can you write something about yourself?

I'm a singer/ songwriter and I write about the rollercoaster ride called life:-)

How has the pandemic affected your career?

It's been actually good toome, it gave me time to reflect and think about my next recording step....so I came up with the idea to write about my family history. Coming from a Jewish- Afro-American-Dutch background I had some inspiration on the subject. The album King of Air tells about family patterns and history. Very bluesy/electronic/soulful sounds will come your way.

I just finished up the last song and now it's time to set the bird free....please save the date for November 8!!!

Your latest track is 'Aquarius'. Can you share with us the background of its creation and did any unusual things happen during its creation?

The song is about my father, the song starts off with the line; 'You were the child that was never meant to happen"

My father was born out of an affair between a Jewish woman and a black man back in the 50s in New York it must have been very confusing for both parents ....it was an intense experience being able to sing these sentences like that knowing what he has been thru...He was an Aquarius, a free spirit, and a jazz musician. I took a chance to say and sing it all out loud. Best therapy ever:-)

What are the themes of your songs? What do you like to explore?

I like to sing about real pain and real love, what I experience and what I see people go thru ...sad songs make me happy.

What is the biggest decision you’ve had to make?

So many! Anything that I care deeply about.. is big. A couple of years ago I had to put my dog to sleep...I wanted to do what was best for him but it felt so wrong...

What makes you different from others?

Nothing at all we are all the same more or less.

What are your achievements so far?

Doing something I love:-)

Who have you had the opportunity to work with? How do you recall it?

I collaborated with international DJs like Kerri Chandler and Roger Sanchez, and I was invited on stage with great artists like Solomon Burke, Jools Holland, and KT Tunstall, also I was one of the few Dutch artists to appear on the American syndicated television show, Jimmy Kimmel. “ That was very frightening and one big blur until it was over and I wanted to go back for more.

What is the first thing you think of when you wake up?

Coffee!

What are your plans for the future?

To be able to tour and sing live after the release of my new album....November 8 in case you forgot LOL
