GOODGrief by K A T R I N A is an Electro-Pop Journey!

Embodying a complete emotional journey, ‘GOODGrief’ by K A T R I N A is for all those of you who need a shoulder, a listener, after having gone through heartbreak, in through music that might have you up and moving at the same time.

LOML

Setting the tone for the rest of the album, ‘LOML’ is your next go to heartbreak dancefloor pop track. The music is simply exquisite – not overwhelmingly chaotic but instead capturing the chaos of heartbreak in a much more grounded manner. Lyrics are real and not embellished, making it all the more relatable and a song you can listen to on a quiet night in or in the club.

BETCHUTHINKYOURESPECIAL

Exuding power and boiling rage, ‘BETCHUTHINKYOURESPECIAL’ is the kind of track you play when you are utterly done with that someone and want to reclaim your space and energy. The instrumentation captures the emotion perfectly – the confidence, the searing anger – and offers an energy that you can’t help but feel and be influenced by. Thunderous basslines blended with soaring, gritty lyrics are the star of the track.

What I Had 2

Taking on a different sound compared to the previous track, ‘What I Had 2’ captures the feeling of contemplation and retrospection when the storms have moved away. The sound of this one is a softer electro-pop kind, that fits perfectly with the reflective quality of the song. The violin note occasionally adds very interesting textures to the slow groove of the song, and makes for an amazing sonic experience.

Different Life

When you come to the track ‘Different Life’ you will see that the EP follows a path, a trajectory. The sound of this one is quite soft, as it takes on piano driven melody blended with electronic components. The song captures the idea of quiet acceptance of things, and wishing the other person the best in their lives despite all and everything, making it quite the relatable track.

Breathe

Adopting an entirely different sound in comparison to the rest of the tracks, ‘Breathe’ embodies a shift as one of the last songs on the album. Lyrically as well the song is about the shift and the moving on, once you have processed all of it more or less. Instrumentation has quite the tropical feel going for it, offering you a vibrant, bright, and upbeat sound that you can’t help but groove to.

Different Life

Mirroring a similar energy as the last track, ‘Different Life’ feels like looking back on painful chapters and analysing your place and part in it. This one too has a sunshine-y, tropical, beach music vibe going for it. The electronic sax sound offers a lovely texture to the song. As the last track on the album, it lives up to its task, and brings to close an amazing listening experience.
