As a fan of the dark distorted noises that come with industrial electronica, colour me more than enthusiastic to have a listen to the latest from Tempers and their debut album, ‘Services’, which drops on 23 October. ‘Trains’ is a very hectic track with a lot going on, as you would expect from anything dance-orientated, but the vocal line leaves me wanting something grittier. Even so, I've been more than happy to vibe to ‘Trains’ for the past week or so and, yeah, I can totally dig it.
It starts with a heavily distorted effect that’s not entirely pleasing to the ear, nor should it be as it’s there to grab the attention. This it successfully does, keeping the listener interested as the music kicks in at a heart-racing tempo that has the whole track moving, your heart pumping and your blood constantly on the edge of your skin. So forgive me for expecting a bit more from the vocal line itself, which seems to contradict the whole movement of the track.
As a whole, however, ‘Trains’ is interesting throughout and has a guitar line that rips and cuts, demanding the attention every time it’s introduced – a quite stellar performance. So despite some minor discrepancies, ‘Trains’ is totally worth your attention and I'm certainly looking forward to more from Tempers when ‘Services’ drops later on in the autumn.
