The latest track from High Safari initially has a summery, basking in the sun kinda vibe to it that truly wouldn't be out of place at any BBQ with a bunch of mates. ‘Find Your Way Back’ starts off with a very Arctic Monkeys' feel comprising a sparse drumbeat and a lone bass guitar before the vocals and rhythm guitar eventually come in to add some flavour. The vocal has a real sense of maturity and ease, delivering the message of the song with eloquence. It proceeds to get brighter and sunnier as it progresses, reminiscent of Sixties British pop in its rhythm and melody, plus some modern influences to make it a bit different.
In the second verse, a female backing vocal instigates an interesting change as, although she isn't exactly harmonising, she still manages to complement the lead while doing something completely different. I wish there was more of this but I suppose it wouldn't have been much of a surprise if it was littered throughout. Either way, it provides a highlight as a rather unexpected but totally welcome change to what may have become a monotonous melody. Instead, ‘Find Your Way Back’ is very pleasing, it does what it needs to and gives off a sunny vibe – welcome during this patchy summer.
