It's to do with how well the grooves have been understood, an easy-going number with catastrophic lyrics. This is a reflection of the society and times we live in. Jack McDougall is an intensely talented musician who knows for sure that his art can speak far deeper than the so-called philosophers of today. It is an incredible debut for the artist, where the simple chord progression and sharp songwriting essence have carried the soul of the track further than the human mind could comprehend. 3. Witte-Glas un Steine
I am not kidding when I say you can hear the reflection off of this track. Witte are the kind of project that completely rely on their music to do the talking for them. Glas un Steine is contemplative from the very first moment you press play. It has a felted piano opening, no strong percussions to lean into, and allows the entire verse section of the song to glitter with certain hope. Time feels distorted due to the nature of the vocals and how smoothly the song slips past you. The project from Hamburg is on their way to try something new with a voice that, with all honesty, seems like their own. Even when the percussion arrives, it is a simple bass drum, almost acting like the heartbeat of the song. A touching number:
4. LVSA-Getaway
I classify the song as rather cinematic. With your eyes closed you can almost imagine LVSA getting into a car and driving out while actually becoming a getaway. That's the most powerful way you can put the listener in the perspective of the visual. The song itself is peppy and catchy and carries quite the rollercoaster of emotions. There are synth wave sequences, layered instrumental arpeggios, and most importantly a funky groove to bop your head to. This comes from the latest EP by LVSA called Afterlight and you can always go ahead and check out the remaining numbers to keep the flow going. From the lighter sections to the darker percussive bass parts with the synth, this song is a perfect balance of what a getaway feels like:
5. The Bastas Project-Sharp Comfort
It's an instrumental part you just can't skip and a voice you just can't forget. The Basta's project is here with their latest album called Sharp Comfort, and we're looking at the title track. It has an amazing folk percussive feel to it. The instrumental section carries you home. It is a state of travel and euphoria all together while giving you the comfort that someone you've always known is playing the song for you. You get drawn into how the minimalistic instrumental part keeps going during the verse while focusing on the lyrics of the song.
