Hindenburg Variations by Silver Heir is a True Conceptual Journey!

Silver Heir’s debut album ‘Hindenburg Variations,’ through its beautifully crafted intricate instrumentation and depth-full lyricism is here to win your heart.

Wrong to Think

A bright, bubbly sound driving the track, ‘Wrong to Think’ sets the tone for the rest of the album with its paradoxically crafted instrumentation and lyricism. The vibrant musicality is put together with lyrics that are quite coloured with tones of existential crisis.

A Few Words

A radio static sound starting off the track, ‘A Few Words’ maintains the vibrant musicality as its precedent. The shifts in pace this song undertakes brings in a lovely dynamicity to the song, and helps the layers to come through wonderfully.

Alexei & Margaret

A soft, introspective sounding acoustic guitar starting off the track, ‘Alexei & Margaret’ takes a different path in comparison to the last two tracks. The sound is characterised by an almost nostalgic, sombre tone and this is brought into fruition beautifully through shimmering percussions and piano notes, and the angelic harmonisations.

Optionally Pilgrim

A happy, groovy rhythm welcoming you to the track, ‘Optionally Pilgrim’ feels like the song to play while you take a solo stroll in your city on a lovely summer’s day. The song progresses beautifully, moving from tight contained rhythms to stretched, laid out sections.

An Empty Room

A dark piano and synth layered rhythm opening the track, ‘An Empty Room’ feels like a proper manifestation of the shift that occurred in the last two songs. The song feels like a conscious acceptance of certain sombre aspects which seemed to be masked by the happy instrumentation in the previous tracks.

Footman’s Tale

A beautiful piano driven track, ‘Footman’s Tale’ feels like contemplation and retrospection as you're driving down the countryside roads. The instrumentation is intentionally crafted, with it being steeped in gentility and softness.

Underground Man

A slow drum and piano rhythm opening up the track, ‘Underground Man’ is like the kind of song that moves from gloom to a peek of sunshine. Intricate instrumentation blends with intricate vocalisations which brings about immensely beautiful textures in the song.

Future Forgot

Synth note layers laying start to the track, ‘Future Forgot’ is where the concept-ness of the album comes into play properly. This is owing to the experimentation that is being employed with this track.

Life in the Old Girl

Employing an alt-rock and grunge blended sound in the beginning, ‘Life in the Old Girl’ takes you by surprise through and through. The song moves into a gentler, introspective sound soon and then comes back to its starting sound and keeps shifting between the two.

Alianore

A sombre piano rhythm starting off the track, ‘Alinaore’ employs a certain theatrical, musical quality that pierces your heart. The song keeps its instrumentation fairly simple, allowing the light to shine upon the lyricism.

Big Storm

Taking on a solid 2000s rock sound, ‘Big Storm’ might sound super upbeat and fun but upon looking into the lyrics, a different story unfurls. The lyrics keep it real, through its beautifully written metaphors, and makes it a very relatable song.

Easy Enough to Say

A lovely piano playing opening up the track, ‘Easy Enough to Say’ leans towards a more hopeful tone. The ending of the song is simply transcendental and you absolutely have to stay for the same.

Two by Two

The last song on the album, ‘Two by Two’ stands in sharp contrast to the first track, and makes you utterly glad you stayed with the album till the very end. The song is marked by many, lovely harmonisations and is a slow, gentle, yet powerful track.

A beautifully done concept album, Hindenburg Variations deserves all the love.
