Till its Over by Matthew Phillips is a Grand Exploration of Heartbreak!

An album all about the journey love takes when it begins its descent that will lead to its crashing, Till its Over by Matthew Phillips will wrap you up in its grand magnetic melodies and pull you onto a bandwagon taking you to the pop-rock scene of the 2000s.

Till its Over

The title track ‘Till its Over’ sets the tone for the rest of the album, and you better have a box of tissues and a ceiling to stare at as you listen to the track. The song is heavily situated in the EDM and electronic pop genre, offering you best of the best beat drops and tear-jerker lyrics.

Time Fades Love

Starting off with a sombre guitar riff, ‘Time Fades Love’ falling through an infinite space. This one will remind you of the early 2000s quintessential rock tracks in some parts. This song is a reminder that love, no matter how profound, needs commitment and work to keep things like they were on the first day, and that giving up is not the answer.

Together Forever

A happy sounding guitar and drum pattern opening up the track, ‘Together Forever’ is about looking back on the relationship and seeing what it has come to now. The song is upbeat and vibrant, in its reminiscing and yearning. The solo section preceding the bridge is simply out of this world.

Just Say Yes

Lyrics woven in with earnest emotions, ‘Just Say Yes’ may remind you of the time when you desperately hoped that they wouldn't leave your side, and the idea of ‘us.’ The instrumentation is throbbing with urgent emotiveness, and will have you under its spell. This song, like most of the others, will remind you of Snow Patrol’s music.

So in Love

Taking a different path musically from the previous tracks, ‘So in Love’ lies in the electronic pop genre. The layering of guitars and electronic beats is mindblowingly well done, creating an atmosphere that will remind you of vibrant fireworks in the sky, despite the lyrics being not so vibrant thematically.

Always Be There

Starting off as a piano ballad, ‘Always Be There’ is softer than the previous tracks in its sound. The song is about the helpless acceptance of the situation, and consoling yourself with whatever glimmer that you can make out of the situation.

Goodbye

The last track on the album, ‘Goodbye’ is a grand rupture of emotions, as the relationship comes to a close. The electric guitar solo in the track is so full of achingly beautiful emotion and energy that you can’t help but absolutely fall in love with the pain of the song.

A grand, cinematic album, this one is truly for all the broken hearted people and anyone who simply enjoys brilliantly produced tracks and deep, vulnerable songwriting.
