Connor Leckenby - Who I Want To Be

Leeds-based rocker Connor Leckenby brings you a vibrant track with “Who I Want To Be”. This track has a quintessential Brit-pop sound with elements of Punk Rock injected into it with a style reminiscent of bands like The Killers or Sum 41. “Who I Want To Be” is a song about self-discovery and acceptance and carries a wonderfully resonant message in its songwriting. The riffs on this piece are catchy and the song is full of life from the moment it starts playing. Strong drumming and a groovy bassline give this song a solid frame and Connor’s singing is spirited. “Who I Want To Be” is a wonderfully captivating venture by Connor and we can’t wait to see what he puts out next!

Shockpowder - Evergreen Solace

Captivating sounds with a bustling atmosphere with evident influences from legends like Alcest and Jesu, Shockpowder’s latest single “Evergreen Solace” is a delicately crafted plat du jour. Shockpwder is on a mission to define a new genre with their ‘metalgaze’ sound, which is a marriage of shoegaze and metal music and I’m all here for it. Blending the best of both genres, this song has all the calling cards of a masterpiece with the dreamy transcendent vocal stylings of a dream-pop track and the massive guitar presence of metal. “Evergreen Solace” is calming in its soundscape and builds an ambience that you can easily get lost in. I, for one, am eager to hear more from Shockpowder!

Neve Bowen - Haunting Sound of Love

Neve Bowen writes her music from the heart and “Haunting Sound of Love” is a soulful exploration of the weird quirks that are part of the human condition of love. Opening on warm acoustic guitar arpeggios, you are immediately transported to a transcendent place in your mind. Neve’s singing is heartfelt and enchanting and you can really feel the rawness of the emotion she has packed into “Haunting Sound of Love”. The use of vocal harmonies further adds to the ethereal vibe of this song. Neve Bowen is wickedly talented and “Haunting Sound of Love” is a beautiful piece that will tug on your heartstrings so do go give it a listen!

Benjamin David - Sandcastles

Benjamin David’s “Sandcastles” is an intimate groovy work of heart and soul that sounds familiar but not quite as it draws and blends music from various evident inspirations and eras and creates a sound that pulls you in and doesn’t let go of your attention. With sounds that are evocative of the 50s and 70s, “Sandcastles” is a slow burn that starts with only Benjamin’s passionate singing and a piano that dominates the mix. The song slowly dances in your ears growing more and more complex and vibrant until the music sneaks up on you and takes control of your senses. Benjamin describes himself as an alchemist who turns base metal into gold and I don’t think there is a single sentence I can frame to more aptly describe what makes him so special!

Mark Shepherd - Don’t Stop Walking

Mark Shepherd’s “Don't Stop Walking” has a classic folky sound with a dark edge. The acoustic guitars are down-tuned and the chords they play are frantic and  Mark’s baritone singing adds to the uneasy feeling the song is trying to convey. Featuring an unforgettable guitar motif the song delivers a sonic experience that’s anxious and paradoxically warm at the same time. Mark’s music is the type of music that sticks with you long after you stop listening. He is unbelievably talented and “Don’t Stop Walking”  is a testament to his skill in building tone and atmosphere.  I loved every second of this track and I’m sure so will you!
