Listen/review: Honey Stretton - The Thrill Of Loneliness

Words by Tim Hakki @TimHakki

Honey Stretton’s new song ‘The Thrill Of Loneliness’ has all the lo-fi crackle and melodious niceties of an old blues or minimal jazz record, - hearing it is like stumbling across a beautiful and mysterious sound from the past. While her vocals are hushed and almost indecipherable, she conjures such a precise feeling of warmth that you’d be forgiven if you thought songwriting like this was easy. Stretton’s track stands utterly apart from the legions of copyists, fad-chasers and money grabbers. It’s pure creative expression, birthed from her imagination and performed to us untainted by passing thoughts for anything else.
