Alternative trio from London/Birmingham/Brazil, ploughing the raucous and melancholic furrows of Tom Waits and Elliott Smith. A hybrid of jazz, pop and alternative sensibilities, Buzzard Lope are shaped by the pop-tinged songwriting of pianist and singer Roger Illingworth, jazz double bass of Adam Jarvis and distinctive stylings of Brazilian drummer Raphael Saib.
The band released their debut Ep Daybreak in Autumn 2010 and Pyhhric Victories 2013 through independent label Lost Toys Records. Buzzard Lope have also recently won the audition show on amazing radio with their free download 'MillStone' and had a live session with the wonderful Ruth Barnes.
"hints of jazz piano, brass, and bass and incorporates them into melodic pop nuggets. The vocals are chill and very melodic, forming a tandem with the piano in crafting hooks. The music tends to swell around in the piano in sections where Buzzard wants to really sell the song. It’s done tactfully, not indulgently, so it doesn't sound like overproduced fodder; in doing so, Buzzard Lope is extremely sharp in being able to deliver their hooks and make their songs stick." Adequacy Magazine

"It's important for a band to be able to surprise you. Over the years since their formation, Bedford's Buzzard Lope have been nothing if not surprising." The 405
“Rueful yet defiant lyrics and classy, expansive arrangements… The sonic equivalent of an expensive suit marked, on closer inspection, with cigarette holes and whiskey stains.” Beardy Magazine
